Description
Valentina Andrei is an independent wine estate located in Valais, Switzerland. Guided by a committed winemaking philosophy, the estate focuses on showcasing indigenous — sometimes rare — grape varieties, cultivated with care, often using organic or environmentally respectful practices.
Païen is a white wine under the AOC Valais, made from the local Païen grape. This cuvée reflects the estate’s dedication to local identity: old vines, low yields, manual harvesting, and natural vinification — a dialogue between tradition and finesse — to preserve the grape’s character and its unique terroir.
Tasting
Appearance: The wine displays a pale, bright yellow robe — clear and luminous. Typical of a mountain white, it promises freshness and vibrancy.
Nose: The bouquet reveals aromas of Williams pear, white or yellow-fleshed fruits such as mirabelle or peach, along with a subtle mineral or stony note, floral nuances, and a delicate touch of vanilla depending on the vintage.
Palate: On the palate, Païen shows a lively, energetic and saline character. The attack is clean, the acidity well-marked, and the texture smooth. Ripe or white fruit flavours mingle with alpine freshness and a pronounced minerality. The finish is long, saline, and sometimes subtly spicy or vanilla‑tinged.
Food Pairing: This white wine pairs beautifully with fish, seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, sushi, aged or hard cheeses, vegetable dishes or light summer cuisine. It particularly enhances iodised or smoked flavours, and contrasts nicely with creamy preparations thanks to its freshness.
