Description
Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy’s great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing the remarkable diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity.
With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a genuine journey through the richness and diversity of Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus.
The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d’Or by Gault&Millau, a distinction that recognises the quality of its work and its position among the leading names in Burgundy.
The Chablis Premier Cru is a blend of several Premier Cru parcels from Domaine Joseph Drouhin: Roncières, Mont de Milieu, Montée de Tonnerre and Moireins, located on both sides of the Serein River. Each parcel is harvested and vinified separately before the final blending, allowing every terroir to contribute its own identity and create a particularly harmonious wine. The Kimmeridgian limestone soils, rich in marine fossils, provide the distinctive minerality and freshness associated with the great wines of Chablis.
Tasting
Appearance: bright pale yellow, green highlights, beautiful brilliance.
Nose: clean and expressive, with yellow lemon, citrus zest, crisp apple/pear, a floral touch (hawthorn), and a mineral signature (flint, wet stone, oyster shell).
Palate: lively, precise attack. The wine shows a straight, finely chiselled texture, driven by zesty acidity and a chalky minerality. Long, saline finish with citrus notes and a subtle iodine touch.
Food pairings: ideal with a seafood platter or oysters, grilled white fish or white fish with beurre blanc, and even a light creamy chicken dish, thanks to its lemony freshness and saline finish.
Serving temperature: between 10 and 12°C; 10°C recommended as an aperitif or with seafood, then 11–12°C with a richer dish.
