Description
Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy's great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing the remarkable diversity of Burgundy's terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity. With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a genuine journey through Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus.
The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d'Or by Gault&Millau, recognising the quality of its work and its place among Burgundy's leading producers.
The Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos comes from the largest and arguably the most celebrated of Chablis' seven Grand Cru vineyards, this exceptional site was already recognised by medieval monks as one of the finest vineyard locations in the region. The name "Les Clos" refers to the stone walls that once enclosed the vineyard. During the 1960s, when Chablis was being revived after the devastation of phylloxera, Robert Drouhin became one of the first Burgundy proprietors to invest in this outstanding terroir. Kimmeridgian limestone packed with ancient marine fossils gives the wine its extraordinary depth, minerality and incomparable finesse.
