Description
Ricasoli is one of Italy’s oldest wine families, established at Castello di Brolio in the heart of Chianti Classico since 1141. Its history is closely intertwined with that of Tuscan wine: in the 19th century, Baron Bettino Ricasoli played a major role in defining the historic style of Chianti. Today, the estate continues to explore the individual terroirs of Brolio, with a particular focus on Sangiovese and its finest single-vineyard expressions.
Colledilà is a Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione made exclusively from Sangiovese grown in the vineyard of the same name. This small 7-hectare vineyard lies at 390 metres above sea level with a south-eastern exposure, on the Monte Morello geological formation, also known as Alberese. Its rocky clay-limestone soils are rich in calcium carbonate and poor in organic matter, creating an ideal environment for a particularly precise and elegant expression of Sangiovese. Only the finest bunches, harvested and selected by hand, are used for Colledilà.
