Description
Based in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Domaine Chandon de Briailles is a historic estate of the Côte de Beaune. The domaine farms prestigious vineyards in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and on the Corton hill, with a philosophy focused on allowing each individual terroir to express its distinctive character. Its wines are renowned for their finesse, precision and authentic expression of Burgundy’s great vineyards.
Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from Domaine Chandon de Briailles comes from a tiny 0.1103-hectare parcel, planted in 1990, in the upper northern section of the Les Renardes climat on the Corton hill. Here, limestone marl soils allow Chardonnay to combine remarkable power with floral tension, minerality and exceptional length
Tasting
Appearance: Bright, deep golden-yellow colour with brilliant highlights that gain intensity with age.
Nose: Complex and refined aromas of white flowers, citrus and white-fleshed fruits, complemented by hazelnut and distinctive chalky, stony and subtly smoky nuances.
Palate: Broad and powerful while retaining remarkable tension and precision. The richness of Chardonnay is balanced by vibrant freshness and pronounced minerality. The wine develops impressive depth before an exceptionally long, saline and mineral finish.
Food Pairing: Excellent with roast lobster, scallops, turbot, sole meunière, Bresse chicken in a cream sauce, sweetbreads or mature Comté.
