Description

The Joseph Drouhin House, founded in 1880 in Beaune, is a renowned family-owned estate and a leading name in Burgundy. It is recognized for its deep respect for terroir and the Burgundian style, focusing above all on elegance, finesse, and the authentic expression of each appellation.

Santenay Premier Cru Gravières Blanc – Maison Joseph Drouhin. This wine is made from the Chardonnay grape variety, grown on clay-limestone soils in the “Les Gravières” climat, located east of the village of Santenay in the Côte de Beaune. It can be enjoyed young but also offers a cellaring potential of 5 to 10 years. Recommended serving temperature: around 13 °C.

Tasting

Appearance: Pale yellow to bright golden robe, clear and luminous, typical of a great Burgundian Chardonnay.

Nose: The nose reveals a delicate aromatic complexity, blending ripe white fruits (peach, apple), white flowers, dried fruits, and subtle toasted or brioche notes from the ageing process, with a refined mineral undertone.

Palate: Generous and layered, the palate shows a dense and complex texture with vibrant minerality and well-balanced freshness. The lively acidity and broad structure lead into a persistent saline finish, offering the elegance typical of Côte de Beaune climates.

Food Pairing: Perfectly suited to sauced fish, seafood, grilled poultry, creamy risottos or matured cheeses — dishes that complement its aromatic richness and mineral tension.

Serving Temperature: Serve between 10°C and 12°C to best appreciate its freshness, finesse and aromatic expression.
