Description
Tiezzi, located in Montalcino, is a family estate deeply rooted in the region’s winemaking traditions. Its philosophy is based on organic viticulture, deliberately low yields and traditional winemaking methods, including spontaneous fermentation and ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. The wines aim above all to express the authentic character of Sangiovese and the distinctive terroirs of Montalcino.
The Rosso di Montalcino DOC Vigna Poggio Cerrino is a true single-vineyard Rosso, made exclusively from grapes grown in the Poggio Cerrino vineyard. Produced according to the same philosophy and vinification techniques as the estate’s Brunello, it simply undergoes a shorter ageing period. The organically farmed vines average around 50 years of age and are harvested by hand, with yields limited to 35 quintals per hectare. Spontaneous fermentation lasts approximately 30 days in 50-hl oak vats, followed by 11 months in large Slavonian oak casks and one month in bottle.
Tasting
Appearance: Bright, intense ruby red with brilliant red highlights.
Nose: Pure and expressive aromas of cherry, sour cherry and red berries, complemented by floral notes, Mediterranean herbs and delicate spices.
Palate: Direct, fresh and authentic, offering a precise expression of young Sangiovese from Montalcino. Vibrant red fruit is supported by lively acidity and structured tannins, leading to a persistent, savoury and distinctly Tuscan finish.
Food Pairing: Ideal with pici or pappardelle served with hare or wild boar ragù, ossobuco, braised meatballs, roast meats or mature Italian cheeses
