Description

Les Forts de Latour takes its name from an historic plot in the « Enclos ». The wine was first labelled with this name in 1966 and constant work on developing its quality has resulted in its achieving the level of a Médoc Grand Cru Classé.

Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, Les Forts de Latour is aged with the same care as the Grand Vin. The only notable difference, apart from its origin, is the proportion of new barrels - between 50 and 60% - used for its ageing.the blend of Les Forts de Latour may vary from one year to the next, but there is a higher proportion of Merlot (25 to 30%) compared to the proportions found in the Grand Vin.

Tasting

Appearance: deep and intense purple colour, typical of a structured Pauillac, with a vibrant, dark shine that signals concentration.

Nose: complex and expressive bouquet dominated by ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), enhanced by notes of liquorice, incense and aromatic herbs, with refined integration of oak from barrel ageing.

Palate: broad and structured attack, with dense mouthfeel and fine, ripe tannins delivering depth and energy. Black fruits carry through, balanced by refreshing acidity and a long, elegant finish with a touch of refined bitterness and great purity.

Food Pairing: ideal with grilled or sauced red meats, game, ribeye steak (Bordelaise-style), or aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature: 16–18 °C, to bring out the wine’s full power and finesse.
