Grande Reserva Folgazão & Rabigato 2022

Quinta de São Luiz, located in Portugal’s Douro Valley, belongs to the Sogevinus group and is one of the emblematic estates associated with Kopke. Through the Winemaker’s Collection, the winemaking team explores the potential of specific Douro grape varieties and terroirs in small, limited-production releases. The white-grape project began in 2015 with a study of traditional varieties and their performance, particularly in the Baixo Corgo.

São Luiz Winemaker’s Collection Grande Reserva White Folgazão & Rabigato is a Douro white created by winemaker Ricardo Macedo from 60% Folgazão and 40% Rabigato. For this vintage, a significant proportion of the grapes comes from Quinta do Bairro in the Baixo Corgo. After whole-bunch pressing, fermentation is completed in 300-litre barrels, where the wine remains from 2022 to 2026, for a total of four years. Only 4,400 individually numbered and signed bottles were produced.

Appearance: Bright yellow colour with golden highlights.

Nose: Refined and elegant, showing white stone fruit, grapefruit peel and delicate smoky nuances from beautifully integrated oak.

Palate: Full and creamy, with generous texture balanced by fresh, precise acidity. Elegant and persistent, retaining remarkable freshness despite its extended barrel ageing.

Food Pairing: Seafood, fish, richer fish dishes, white meats and cheeses.
