Description
Maison Joseph Drouhin, founded in Beaune in 1880, is one of Burgundy’s great family-owned wine houses. For four generations, the Drouhin family has crafted wines with the ambition of expressing the remarkable diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs with precision, elegance and authenticity. With a portfolio spanning more than 90 appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a genuine journey through the richness and diversity of Burgundy, from regional appellations to the most prestigious Premier and Grand Crus.
The Maison has been awarded the Grappe d’Or by Gault&Millau, a distinction that recognises the quality of its work and its position among the leading names in Burgundy.
Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Baudes comes from a very old vineyard in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, directly adjoining the famous Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru. Its name is believed to refer to a former owner, “Baude”, a name derived from the Germanic given name Baud. On a gently sloping, east-facing site, Pinot Noir thrives on complex limestone subsoils, producing a wine of remarkable finesse that combines elegance, depth and a silky texture.
Tasting
Appearance: Bright, vivid and luminous red.
Nose: Complex and remarkably precise, with aromas of violet, black cherry and earthy notes. With age, subtle nuances of truffle and delicate hints of game may develop.
Palate: Elegant and harmonious, with noble, fine and beautifully integrated tannins. Freshness is balanced by a delicate, velvety texture. The aromatic persistence is remarkable, leading to a very long finish with subtle notes of stone and candied fruit.
Food Pairing: Ideal with roast pigeon, duck breast, veal fillet, poultry with mushrooms, feathered game or mature cheeses.
