Description
It all really began in 1552, when Pierre de Lhomme, a rich cloth merchant from Bordeaux, bought the noble house of "Guyscoutz", built a vast estate around it and planted the very first vines.
The wine-growing adventure was underway and the successors of this rich merchant knew how to add their stone to this formidable structure.
In the 19th century, under the impetus of the Promis, Pescatore and other Crusque families, Giscours was adorned with its most beautiful finery: transformation of the château into a neo-classical palace, development of a park with rare species by the landscape architect Eugène Bülher, modernisation of the production tools with the construction of huge farm buildings, including the famous Suzanne Farm.
Tasting
Appearance: Deep garnet color with violet highlights, dense and brilliant, reflecting the concentration and elegance of the vintage.
Nose: Refined and complex nose with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry and fresh plum. With aeration, notes of violet, cedar, graphite, licorice and delicate spices emerge.
Palate: Broad and precise attack supported by a silky texture and perfectly ripe tannins. Dark fruit flavors shine through with purity, accompanied by vibrant freshness and remarkable finesse. The structure is harmonious and balanced, leading to a long, elegant and persistent finish with subtle mineral nuances.
Food Pairing: Ideal with roasted beef tenderloin, veal chop, herb-crusted rack of lamb, feathered game, wild mushrooms or mature cheeses.
