Velhotes Tawny

Founded in 1859 in Vila Nova de Gaia, Cálem is one of Portugal’s most renowned Port houses. With more than 160 years of history, the company is recognised for its expertise in producing high-quality Port wines and remains one of the leading Port brands both in Portugal and internationally.

Velhotes Tawny is one of Cálem’s flagship Ports. First launched in 1934, it represents friendship, tradition and shared moments. Matured in oak casks, this Tawny Port delivers the richness of oxidative ageing while maintaining freshness and balance.

Appearance: Tawny brown-gold colour with bright copper highlights.

Nose: Aromas of dried fruits, hazelnuts, walnuts, raisins, honey and elegant oak notes, complemented by subtle caramel nuances.

Palate: Silky and velvety texture with mature fruit flavours, dried fruits and caramel notes. Harmonious, balanced and pleasantly persistent.

Food Pairing: Excellent as an aperitif or paired with nut-based desserts, pastries, mature cheeses and dark chocolate.
