150 Aniversário - Gran Reserva 2017

Marqués de Riscal 150 Aniversario Gran Reserva is a wine which is only made in excellent vintages, originally created to mark the bodega's 150th anniversary, as well as the history and winemaking traditions of the Rioja Alavesa.

In order to make the wine the mainly tempranillo grapes are harvested from some of the region's oldest vineyard plots, with a minimum age of 80 years. These are generally venerable, low yielding vines which produce some of the most concentrated and flavoursome fruit of the harvest.  

This wine combines modernity and tradition, offering complexity and freshness, power and flexibility; it is undoubtedly the most genuine expression of the Rioja Alavesa.

Appearance: Very deep cherry-red colour, almost black, with intense garnet highlights – a sign of high concentration and prolonged ageing.

Nose: A rich and complex bouquet with dominant toasted and balsamic notes, accompanied by spices such as black pepper and cinnamon, as well as hints of caramel, ripe black fruits, and elegant oaky tannins.

Palate: Full-bodied, structured and unctuous, with excellent tannic concentration. The tannins are well-integrated, providing a silky texture, balanced acidity and a long, persistent finish.

Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled red meats, sauced game, Iberian charcuterie and matured cheeses.
