Description

Joseph Drouhin's Maranges Premier Cru comes from the extreme south of the Côte de Beaune, a region where the Domaine Drouhin, founded in 1880, has been able to reveal the full potential of this appellation. The estate is renowned for its commitment to biodynamic viticulture and its respect for the terroir, resulting in elegant, authentic wines. Maranges Premier Cru is a wine made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on selected plots with chalky soils and ideal exposure for the grapes.

This wine embodies the perfect balance between fruit and structure, with a beautiful complexity brought about by ageing in oak barrels. It is distinguished by its refined character, while remaining accessible in its youth. Representative of both the Maranges terroir and the excellence of Domaine Drouhin, this wine evolves remarkably well in bottle.

Tasting

Appearance: Bright vivid red colour, clean and vibrant — a hallmark of a youthful and expressive Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Nose: Intense, wild and fruity aromatics, with ripe red and black berries, underscored by hints of damp forest undergrowth and pure terroir expression.

Palate: Fleshy and well‑structured on the palate, with supportive tannins and a lively core. While initially slightly firm in youth, it rounds out beautifully with age to become more generous and expressive, finishing with long flavour persistence.

Food & Wine Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with braised red meats, game in rich sauces, roasted poultry, or aged cheese — showcasing depth and finesse.
