Description
The oldest house in Porto
Even before the demarcation of the Douro region, Kopke already existed. Founded in 1638, the oldest Port house has built an impeccable reputation based on high quality principles. A leader in the production of Tawny Colheita Port, including whites, Kopke has an enviable portfolio of special category Ports and also produces top-of-the-range DOC Douro wines.
‘History and exclusivity are two of the words that best describe Kopke, a brand synonymous with prestige.’
Tasting
Appearance: deep golden yellow with subtle amber highlights — a clear reflection of its prolonged ageing in oak casks, typical of white Colheita Ports.
Nose: rich and complex bouquet with aromas of candied fruits, orange peel, wildflower honey and fresh walnuts, enhanced by delicate notes of vanilla and smoky wood from barrel ageing.
Palate: broad and smooth on the attack, with a deep flavour profile combining dried fruits (apricot, raisin), honey and light caramel. The wine’s natural freshness is balanced by spicy nuances and a fine saline edge.
Food Pairing: this 2013 white Colheita Port pairs beautifully with walnut and honey desserts, lemon meringue tarts, blue cheeses, or simply as a refined after-dinner drink.
Serving Temperature: ideally between 8 and 10 °C, to fully express its aromatic richness while preserving its freshness.
