Description
The winery Bodegas Marqués de Riscal, founded in 1858 in the Rioja Alavesa, embodies a long-standing Spanish winemaking tradition combined with a constant pursuit of innovation. In 1974, it successfully introduced the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety to the Rueda region and today owns around 70 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc vineyards.
This wine, produced from certified organic viticulture, is crafted with minimal intervention and with deep respect for the environment and its surrounding ecosystem. It conveys a fresh, pure and sustainable identity, reflecting the close bond between the vine, the soil, and the estate.
The Sauvignon Blanc cuvée represents a contemporary interpretation of this grape variety on the Rueda plateau — marked by purity, aromatic expressiveness, and loyalty to the house’s signature style, which champions freshness, quality, and sustainability.
Tasting
Appearance: Bright pale yellow colour with greenish hues, clear and luminous, reflecting the freshness and youth of the vintage.
Nose: Expressive and elegant aromas of freshly cut grass, lime zest, grapefruit, and tropical fruits such as pineapple and passion fruit. Delicate floral and mineral notes enhance the wine’s aromatic complexity.
Palate: Crisp and lively on the attack, with a light yet rounded texture. The mid-palate reveals fine acidity and citrus-driven flavours, balanced by a subtle saline touch. The finish is long, clean, and refreshing, showcasing great aromatic purity.
Food Pairing: Excellent as an aperitif, or with seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, light pasta dishes or fresh salads. Also pairs beautifully with goat cheese.
Serving Temperature: Serve between 8 °C and 10 °C to best preserve its aromatic brightness.
